i’m a big guy, total newbie to running. this blog is my personal journey through learning to run, learning to control my mind, getting in shape and training for a half marathon my health.
Adam – just stumbled across your blog. It reminds me of my first running days 33 months ago. I put down my cigarrettes one day and started running the next. 9 months later I ran the Boston Marathon for my favorite charity.
You can do this. I just ran my second Boston on Monday and have finally decided to get fast…can’t stand running with the clowns (literally) in the back anymore. So, another hurdle to work through.
Good luck on the half marathon. Finishing that will be a huge achievement…
You can do it. I’m a big guy too. I was at 220 a couple years ago and just started running to try and lose some weight and reduce some stress. A friend got me into racing and I really liked it. Never thouht I would run a half-marathon, but I did my first 3 years ago and my 5th this last weekend. I’m going for my first Triathlon this summer. Just keep going and enjoy the ride. I’m kind of a tie my shoes and run guy, but if you have any questions let me know. You can reach me on my blog. http://baddapple.blogspot.com/ If you don’t have a Nike+ I would get one there fun and good motivation.
Hey!
I was doing a little blog research and came across your blog. How inspiring! Keep up the good work! I wanted to let you know about a line of products that may make your challenge a little easier. I work with Sof Sole and we are looking for bloggers who run just like you for a little feedback. For more company info, go to http://www.sofsole.com. Please reply with your mailing address and shoe size and I will get some free products right out to you. We would love for you to blog about your experience. I use the Athlete Insole in my running shoes and love it! Thanks for your time.
Thanks for stopping by and encouraging me! You can do this too. I just started running in January using the Couch to 5K program (it’s great) and I have done 3 races already. Not a half-marathon yet, but it’s been fun. I’m even heading to Las Vegas later on this month for another race. Once you do a race, you’ll get hooked. Good luck!
Good luck on your journey to the half marathon! I’m in a similar position: I began running about a year ago and was training for a marathon with Team in Training, but I was forced to drop out halfway through the season. Now I’ve just recently started running again, this time on my own. I am training for the Denver Half-Marathon in October. I have similar struggles that you have with weight, and I’ve recently lost 40lbs! Wish I could say running had a lot to do with it, but maybe it’ll have a lot to do with the next 40?
Either way, best of luck to you! Keep up the posting!
